2008 Autry Adventures Summer Camp
How the West was Fun!
Six fun and exciting one-week camps taught by professional museum teachers. Engaging activities will focus on the following themes:
Camp hours:
Ages 5-6, 9am – Noon
Ages 7-9, 9am – 4pm
Ages 10-12, 9am – 4pm
NO CAMP OFFERED WEEK OF June 30 – July 4
Cost for half day adventure (ages 5-6), $145/$115 for members
Cost for full day adventure (ages 7-9 and 10-12), $230/$200 for members

Pre and Post Camp Care
Parents can drop off their kids as early as 8 am and pick them up as late as 6 pm. Registration is required. Five days: $45/$35 for members.
Ranch Life
Monday–Friday, June 23–27
- Ages 5–6: 9 am–noon
- Ages 7–9: 9 am–4 pm
- Ages 10–12: 9 am–4 pm
It's time for Summer Round-up! And we need to hire some greenhorns for the week. Come on down to the Autry Ranch and learn how to be a cowboy or cowgirl. We’ll suit you up and teach you the basics, and even introduce you to a horse! As a new cowpuncher, you will learn some cowboy songs and poetry to sing to the dogies, and we’ll even feed you some cowboy grub off the chuck wagon!

Native Americans of the West
Monday–Friday, July 7–11
- Ages 5–6: 9 am–noon
- Ages 7–9: 9 am–4 pm
- Ages 10–12: 9 am–4 pm
Discover the lifeways and stories of the different Native American tribes in the West. Learn about their food, stories, games, music, and art. Find out how they celebrated their family traditions in the past and how they live today. Along the way, create your own parfleche, conduct a trade, and weave a basket.

Westward Ho

Pack your trunks and get ready to step back in time for a journey west. Learn why people moved west, what they faced on their journeys, and what they found when they arrived! Through hands-on activities and projects, stories, and games, experience the excitement and challenges faced by pioneers when they came to start new lives in the American West.

Buffalo, Eagles, and Bears, Oh My!
Monday–Friday, July 21–25

- Ages 7–9: 9 am–4 pm

Roar! Screech! Howl at the night! Which animal do you identify with? Is it the bear, the eagle, or the buffalo? The call of the wild will entice you to explore your inner beast at the museum. Come for an exciting week, as you explore the animals of North America. Draw, sculpt, and track the mysterious creatures that roam our land! We will end our fun-filled week with a trip to the Los Angeles Zoo.

Art of the West
Monday–Friday, July 28–August 1

Come explore your artistic nature! Put your hands and feet to the test! This week we will be inspired by music, dance, and art created by people who call the West home. You’ll tap your toes, stamp your feet, and laugh your way through the week. We’ll keep those creative hands and minds busy with multimedia art and photography. Your masterpieces and hard work will be on display in a class presentation at the end of the week.

Through games, crafts, music, and more, you will explore how people lived, worked, and played, and how you and your family are part of the ongoing history of the American West.
