Once Upon a Time in Italy . . . The Westerns of Sergio Leone, by Christopher Frayling. The accompanying publication to the exhibition, this is the first illustrated book to focus on Leone's Westerns, illuminating his visual style. Augmenting the text are a wealth of visual materials, as well as interviews with Leone, Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach, Lee Van Cleef, Bernardo Bertolucci, composer Ennio Morricone, designer Carlo Simi, and others. Drawn to Yellowstone

Drawn to Yellowstone: Artists in America’s First National Park, by Peter H. Hassrick, copublished with University of Washington Press, 2002. Hassrick provides a fascinating and richly illustrated account of the artists—such as Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran, Frederic Remington, and Louis Comfort Tiffany—who traveled to Yellowstone and were inspired by its wonders. This volume accompanies a Museum of the American West exhibition of the same title, which opened September 9, 2004.

It was published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same title shown at the Autry National Center from October 20, 2001, through January 21, 2002.

Jewish Life in the American West: Perspectives on Migration, Settlement, and Community, edited by Ava F. Kahn, distributed by University of Washington Press, 2002. This volume, published in conjunction with an exhibition held at the Autry June 21, 2002, to January 20, 2003, focuses on Jewish settlement in the American West during the era of the Great Migration from the 1840s to the 1920s.
