A Gesture of Love, a Work of Art
In 1988, to commemorate Gene Autry’s 81st birthday, Jackie Autry commissioned
a collaboration between firearm engraver Leonard Francolini and Tiffany & Co.
designers. The result: the stunning Autry-Tiffany Dragoon, a Colt elaborately
decorated with motifs from two well-known paintings depicting the American
West. On the right side, Frederic Remington’s A Dash for the Timber
was etched in gold and silver with contrasting blued steel. On the left side,
elements from George Catlin’s Buffalo Hunt, Chase.
