Henry Mayer

Most Jewish people living west of the Mississippi River in the nineteenth century emigrated from present-day Germany, Austria, Poland, France, and Russia. A small number of Jewish merchants and traders settled in Texas in the 1820s and 1830s and in New Mexico in the 1840s, when these territories were part of Mexico.
