Welcome to the libraries of the Institute for the Study of the American West. The Braun Research Library is one of the nation’s most important library and archive collections related to the American Indian. Distinctive book collections and other printed resources about the historical and the mythical West are at the heart of the Autry Library collection.

As part of the Autry National Center, our primary mission is to encourage study and research of the American West and its diverse peoples. The libraries serve as the gateway for the research community to the resources of the Autry National Center’s two museums, Southwest Museum of the American Indian and The Museum of the American West.

You may search the library and museum collections online via our Library Catalog and the Autry National Center Collections Online Digital Database.
