Clásica is an exciting new series of free concerts presented by The Orchestras of Pasadena exploring the connection between the roots of Latin, Hispanic, Indigenous and Classical music. Each concert reflects the artistry of our local performers and reveals the powerful effect familial and cultural influences have had upon their music.

Ixya Herrera Ixya (pronounced ee-shaw) grew up in a musical family equally conversant with classical, blues, rock and Mexican music. She has toured with Linda Ronstadt. Ixya shines as she pays tribute to her rich Mexican musical heritage with a voice of remarkable strength and clarity. Ixya's First CD recording Primavera (Mexican classics) was released to the critical acclaim of publications such as Billboard Magazine, which wrote "This classy Oxnard, California siren displays astonishing power, range, and graceful maturity..."

Quarteto Nuevo is making new world music for a new world. They are an improvisational chamber ensemble comprised of musicians with backgrounds in folkloric, jazz, classical and world music traditions. Members Christopher Garcia, Damon Zick, Kenton Youngstrom and Jacob Szekely bring a wealth of musicality and performance experience to the stage, combining instruments not usually associated with chamber music for a truly unique musical experience.
