The Autry is creating a dynamic space, informed by the exquisite landscape of the West, grounded in Griffith Park, and inspired by a variety of exhibitions and programs.

The parking lot, currently in front of the museum, will move to the freeway side of the site. The front of the building will have a park trail that leads right into the South Lawn, which has been reconfigured to make the space more usable and more appropriate for an urban wilderness.

The new site will also feature:
  • Native plants, trees, and shrubs, replacing non-native species
  • A new ethnobotanical garden
  • Landscaping of the park trail behind the building with native plants
  • A redesigned cafe to provide increased outdoor seating
  • A horse corral located closer to the cafe, making it easier for riders to stop and enjoy the Autry National Center
The new site plan for Griffith Park will ensure a more natural landscape. Rendering courtesy of Hood Design, Urban Landscape and Site Architecture.
